Peter London Dance Company presents "After Landing" at the Adrienne Arsht Center inside the Carnival Studio Theater with performances Friday, Dec. 27 through Sunday, Dec. 29.

Performances feature the duende filled Afro-Cuban jazzy world premiere composition by Grammy Nominee and Cuban American pianist and composer Martin Bejerano for the world premiere choreography "Awakening"  by Justin Rapaport. Originally from Miami, he began dancing at the age of 8. He trained at New World School of the Arts, then completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at The Juilliard School. London says the performance at opening night, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, is dedicated to the late Regina Jollivette Frazier, a "dear friend of PLGDC."

Choreographer Kashia Kancey has teamed up once again with composer Cristina Moya- Palacios for the world premiere of a solo work.

The "choreographer in high demand" Jamar Roberts, former Alvin Ailey star and its first resident choreographer returns this season with his triumphant and spell binding 2023 ballet "As an Offering," with the deeply rooted and brilliant original score by the wildly popular and award winning jazz trumpeter and composer, Etienne Charles. Charles's score is anchored in part by the spiritually potent rhythm of the" omelle" drumming of the ancient Yoruba Orisha rites retention in Trinidad & Tobago.

“African King and Queens” is a daring collaboration between Sphinx Virtuosi member and Miami's New World Symphony Fellow bassist and composer Kebra Seyoun Charles. The collaboration explores traditional concepts of West African music and dance within the format of classical music constructs and Afro-Diaspora and American contemporary dance.

London's "Carmen," inspired by Georges Bizet's opera, is what the choreographer says is a  "voluptuous, brutal and ravishing dance narrative of chutzpah on the part of Carmen in the face of the underpinnings of patriarchy and desire for freedom in her role as woman and lover."

Andrea Murillo, actress, theater director, former soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company and artist with NYC production of :"Sleep No More" premieres her potent work "Cisnes" for two women; a tour de force of choreographic theater.

Murillo says her inspiration for "Cisnes" came from an exploration of transformation, resilience and grace.

"Using the metaphor of swans to represent both vulnerability and strength, it’s a reflection on the duality of fragility and power, and how these qualities coexist within us," she says, adding that she hopes to convey to her audience a message of interconnectedness and renewal. "It’s an invitation for the audience to consider their own evolution, to embrace change, and to see beauty in both the stillness and turbulence of life’s transitions."

She says her experience working with the dancers of the Peter London Company was thrilling.

"They embody the multidimensional fabric of Miami, bringing unique perspectives and vibrant artistry to the piece."

London says his ode to "ancestors of the global African Diaspora," —"Blood" from his ballet "Inner Ritual" — is a dynamic "ritual of lament for all whom we have lost," and "the glorious and mystical homage to the soul in Limbo assisting in its final journey to the eternal."

It is preceded by the performance of "Earth" performed with the accompaniment of "voices of winged beings, and danced by an angel of light, who prepares the sacred pathway with a dance of stunning beauty and undeniable revelation of the divine within."

London says "After Landing" is a gift of "deep healing and high frequency vibrational performance of uplifing and invigorating energy, with hope for the New Year and for the future."
