To honor Women's History Month, Peter London Global Dance Company presents "Spring to Light" featuring "Cisnes," by dancer and choreographer Andrea Murillo.
PLGDC presents "Spring to Light" at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at Coral Gables' Sanctuary of the Arts.
A vibrant, colorful, and richly diverse contemporary dance program, the evening is fused strongly with classical ballet and Afro-Caribbean techniques with Miami's leading contemporary and Afro-Caribbean dancers.

"Cisnes" premiered with PLGDC in December 2024 during the company's "After Landing" program at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts performed by Stephanie Franco and Mar'kayla Michel.
From her home in New York, Murillo says that her inspiration for "Cisnes" came from a deep exploration. ". . . an exploration of transformation, resilience, and grace, using the metaphor of swans to represent both vulnerability and strength. It’s a reflection on the duality of fragility and power, and how these qualities coexist within us."
She says working with the dancers of PLGDC on the piece brought unique perspectives and, what she says, a "vibrant artistry. They embody the multidimensional fabric of Miami."The choreographer hopes that through the work, she hopes the audience can reflect on their own lives.
"I hope to convey a message of interconnectedness and renewal. It’s an invitation for the audience to consider their own evolution, to embrace change, and to see beauty in both the stillness and turbulence of life’s transitions."
Also on the program: Brooke Logan, a seasoned choreographer with PLGDC over the past seven years, returns with her world premiere quartet "A Kindred Bloom of Petal and Root" for Stephanie Franco, Mar'Kayla Michel, Kayin Knighton and Llayla Layne, four of PLGDC powerhouse artists, accompanied by luscious music of depth and duende, "Derek" by composer Zach Bagnell and " La TIrana" by composer Bella Valdez
Peter London premiers a suite of three dances: a solo for the magnificent and electrifying artist Jhonathan Valdez; his first season with PLGDC, a solo for Jerome Hawkins; an explosive muscular and panther like mover, and a duet with the masters of the inner ancestral elements Ethan Telfort and Kayin Knighton.
London's "Caribbean Suite," always a fan favorite, with music by award-winning trumpeter, composer, and Creole Soul's band leader Etienne Charles, an ode to the octane carnival celebrations of Trinidad & Tobago and the wider Caribbean, is also featured.

Aaron Lopez, long time PLGDC principal dancer debuts as choreographer with his world premiere unapologetically passionate duet " Yo Contra Yo," with the dynamic fiery artisty of Carlos Realegeno and Ethan Telfort, accompanied by the world premier sensational score " SOUL", composed by Emmanuel Santana Martinez and Devin Aaron Johnson.
Justin Rapaport's high-flying contemporary jazz ensemble work "Awakening," with a commissioned score by Latin Grammy Nominee pianist and composer Martin Bejerano, premiered at PLGDC December 2024 season "After Landing" at the Adrienne Arsht Center.
