Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida Opens Its 2024-25 Season

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, under the direction of Vladimir Issaev, opens its 2024-2025 season with a mixed program that intertwines classical and neoclassical ballets.

The program includes "Una Danza Para Ti" by Vicente Nebrada, a high-energy and technically demanding piece created for five couples, accompanied by the vibrant music of Venezuelan composers Teresa Carreño, Ramón Delgado Palacios and J. M. Suárez.

The company's male dancers perform "Flight" by Issaev, inspired by the evocative piece "Nocturne" by Anton Arensky. Program 1 includes Alberto Mendez's contemporary ballet "Eros' Game," formerly known as "Suite Generis," with music by Handel and Haydn.

The evening concludes with the world-renowned classical ballet "Paquita," choreographed by Marius Petipá and accompanied by the music of Ludwig Minkus, showcasing the exquisite technique and the work of soloists and corps de ballet of ABT dancers.

      In March, it’s the works of Sergei Prokofiev and Maurice Ravel with a mixed program. The show opens with excerpts from Issaev's "The Stone Flower," a narrative of love and perseverance. Arts Ballet will revive Issaev's "Classic Symphony," a vibrant and dynamic ballet that has become an audience favorite. Program III will include Ravel's "Bolero," choreographed by guest maestro Miao Zong with the addition of Aldemaro Romero's "Quinta Anauco."

      The season comes to a grand finale with ABT’s Spring Gala, an eclectic production that blends the worlds of ballet and opera. The evening features "Harlequinade," a lively one-act ballet with an aria that enhances the whimsical tale of Harlequin and Columbina. Excerpts from Issaev's "The Favourite," an adaptation of Donizetti's beloved opera, and "Markitanka" (La Vivandière), with the delightful music of Cesare Pugni. The highlight of the gala is the exquisite pas de deux of "La Traviata," capturing the deep emotions and tragic beauty of Verdi's opera. This final program promises to take audiences away from breath, celebrating the enduring power and beauty of these timeless art forms.
