Dranoff 2 Piano/Latin 2 Piano and Miami-Dade County Auditorium presents "Cuba 2024: A Contemporary Showcase of Cuban and Cuban American Composers," on Friday, May 17 at the Sanctuary of the Arts in Coral Gables.

"Cuba 2024: A Contemporary Showcase of Cuban and Cuban American Composers" will showcase top Cuban musicians from around the U.S. playing award-winning Cuban and Cuban American composers leading their fields today in Classical, Jazz, Latin Jazz, and Afro Cuban. The program narrative will orchestrate the role of the history of Cuba in music of the island, and the impact and changes that music has made becoming popular in the United States. The pre-concert talk will feature musicians and scholars in discussion of how South Florida is both a catalyst and melting pot for Cuban American art.

This performance is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium's Away From Home Series. Programming continues to thrive during this period of renovation through the Away From Home Series. The series consists of off-site performances presented at alternative venues with community partners, ensuring that the magic of the performing arts continues to captivate audiences throughout this transition period. The Away From Home Series presents dance, theatre, and music performances that take place at a variety of South Florida facilities and cultural centers. The globetrotting musician brings a stellar quintet of musicians for a concert at the North Beach Bandshell for the March 18 edition of North Beach Social, including exquisite charango, quena, guitar, piano, bombo and the iconic bandoneon.

The show will include visuals and dance as well. The opening set features bandoneon player Javier Sanchez, and the evening is hosted by Cuci Amador. Fama will play songs from her 2021 release Patagonia, which she created with gratitude for the unconditional magic and beauty that nature offers us.
